WU CHUN notched 16 points in his debut for KFC in a 117-36 demolition of GHK Motors in Group C of the Inter-Company NBT Basketball tournament last night at the Brunei Basketball Association court in Batu Bersurat.

In what was their fifth straight victory, three other players notched double figures for KFC with Darren Chai leading the way with 24 points.

Goh De No added 16 points while Geve Leones contributed 13 points in the triumph.

It was evident where the match was heading after KFC opened up a 30-11 lead at the end of the opening quarter.

The tournament favourites have won all their games by an average winning margin of 82 points.

Their largest victory came in their opener where they thrashed CCS Comservice 132-29 on May 3.

KFC head coach Raul Dimaano explained that they couldn’t afford to take their foot off the pedal and play complacent basketball.

“I told the guys to continue playing hard, especially on defence. We need to be prepared for stronger teams in the competition,” said Dimaano in an interview with The Brunei Times yesterday.

“I feel confident with the way the team is playing right now and we are ready for the next round. But I believe that there is still room for improvement at the defensive end,” he added.

The tournament continues today with three more matches on the schedule starting at 6.30pm.

In the first game, Borneo United will take on Ishajaya Technology in Group A followed by a matchup between D’Sunlit against GHK Motors in Group C.

The last match will see DST Communications face JPMC in Group A.
