Wu Chun attends BASELWORLD 2014 in Switzerland

BRUNEI’S own megastar, Wu Chun, recently took time off from his busy schedule to attend the world’s largest watch and jewellery show, BASELWORLD 2014, in Basel, Switzerland.

Wu Chun was invited by MIDO Switzerland’s head office, of which he has been an ambassador for the past two consecutive years.

BASELWORLD 2014 showcases some of the most important watches and jewelleries in the world, as well as all the leading brands.

Some 150,000 invitees, including representatives from exhibiting companies, buyers, journalists and other visitors from every continent have demonstrated the underlining position of the event as the most important marketplace and trend-setting event for the world’s watch and jewellery industry.

In addition to attending the event, Wu Chun took the opportunity to climb Mt Jungfrau at 3,571 metres high, also known as the ‘Top of Europe’.

According to Wu Chun, “Watches have always been a symbol of status for me. Being a watch enthusiast, it certainly was a privilege to be invited to BASELWORLD 2014, one of the most exciting exhibitions in the watch industry. It’s an eye opener for me, especially having the chance to mingle with top notch watchmakers and global journalists from around 70 countries.”

He added, “Being the ambassador for MIDO watch has been really exciting for me over the years, especially after understanding the brand’s philosophies. It’s a Swiss company with close to 100 years of historic background and their spirit of aiming for perfection and creativity always inspires me.”

Founded by George Schaeren in 1918, Mido is currently based in the town of Le Locle at the heart of the Swiss Jura mountains. The name Mido comes from the Spanish words “Yo mido” or in English “I measure”.

Mido’s philosophy is to combine timeless design with functionality, rather than follow fashion trends. The objective is to create timepieces made of high quality materials, endowed with precise movements and offering outstanding water-resistance in order to last a long time.

The watches are sold through 2,500 authorised retailers in 50 countries around the world and is one of the many reputable brands under the Swatch Group.
