FIFTY-FIVE overweight individuals have checked into the first series of healthy lifestyle clinic programme for 2014 to fight an uphill battle to stay healthy through continuous exercise and balance food intake.

The participants, comprising 45 female and 10 male, have started their losing weight regime since last week, attending fitness classes and programme at the Health Promotion Centre and Fitness Zone. The programme has been implemented since 2009.

Most of the participants are students and employed individuals, with one person weighing at 219kg. The aim of the three-month programme is to lose five per cent of the total body weight by the end of the programme.

The participants yesterday received a surprise encouragement from Wu Chun, when he dropped by to pass a message to the participants – ‘Never give up and transform your life’.

Wu Chun said, “It’s definitely a new year resolution for all these participants in the healthy lifestyle programme, partnering with the Ministry of Health, to transform their lives and motivate themselves to achieve their goal.”

He added, “January is also an important and busy month for us and all our members are coming back after a long holiday in December. It’s also time for us to find out where the fitness industry is heading this year and what trend will take over? These are big questions.

“I love this industry. The more successful we become, the better the health of the people of our country. As an industry, we are still growing and maturing, and that’s what tomorrow is all about.”

The participants will head outdoor to Tasek Lama Recreational Park for another exercise session this Saturday.
