FITNESS Zone organised a charity event yesterday for Lyza Pacheco, a fitness instructor at the popular health club who has been diagnosed with breast cancer.

“Fitness For Charity” was held at the Kiulap branch of Fitness Zone, led by Lyza’s colleagues, as well as her own husband, John Pacheco, who is also an instructor. Members of the gym and the public joined a Body Pump and Body Combat session to raise funds for Lyza’s treatment.

Fitness Manager Rachael Lee shared, “Even though we only charged outsiders a $3 fee, and gave free entrance to Fitness Zone members, I am happy to see that the participants still donated freely.”

One of the participants was Amy See, a member of Fitness Zone since 2008. She voiced her hopes that the funds raised will be able to help Lyza.

“Lyza is a very cheerful person, and always encouraging others. Everyone is born a fighter, and Lyza is definitely one. She inspired me to be one. Now, it is our time to encourage her to fight against cancer. I really hope she fully recovers and that we will be able to see her again soon,” said Amy.

Body Combat is a fierce, energetic experience that raises fitness levels while reducing stress, fat, and cholesterol. It’s also supported by driving music and inspiring instructors that motivate you to punch, kick, and kata your way to superior cardio fitness.

Body Pump is a barbell class that strengthens your entire body. This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like squats, presses, lifts and curls.

For those interested in the charity drives or classes held by Fitness Zone, head over to their main branch in Kiulap or visit their website at or call them at 2233338 or 2232338.
