FITNESS Zone played host to 25 special adults, staff, caretakers and volunteers from Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam’s pre-vocational class at Fitness Zone gym in Kiulap.

The visitors were welcomed by Fitness Zone’s Manager, Rachel Lee.

The group was given a tour of the fitness facilities and briefed on the importance of health, fitness and diet in their daily life.

The host also conducted a special one-hour training session where the special visitors were introduced to various stretching and practical fitness routines, which they can perform at home.

Aside from yoga and dance sessions with one of the fitness instructors, the students also had an opportunity to engage in various indoor physical games and try out some of the facility’s equipment.

Caretakers and parents joining in the visit were also not left behind as the fitness centre invited them to participate in the activities and provided them with individual health assessment as well as a talk on “Fitness and Nutrition” by a qualified nutritionist.

The fitness centre highlighted that the visit will not be just a one off interaction with Pusat Ehsan as they see it as their corporate social responsibility to play an active role to contribute to this important organisation.

As a result, Fitness Zone has pledged to send a trainer once a week to Pusat Ehsan for an hour of complimentary exercise programme to ensure the special adults keep up with their fitness regime.

Yesterday’s visit was part of the special students learning topic on “Engaging Oneself in Physical Fitness” where Pusat Ehsan believes that students with special needs need to be aware of the benefits of exercise and the incorporation of physical activity into their daily schedules.

Through this activity, it enables the students to make substantial gains in motor skills by providing them with learning experiences that are functionally relevant and that occur in a natural environment.

Pusat Ehsan continues to expose the special needs students to various learning experiences that will help them to make sense of the world around them and as such, they will learn to adapt to new learning experiences that will help them to explore and respond to their local community.

In this regard, Pusat Ehsan also expressed their appreciation to Fitness Zone for their kind accommodation and support to the Community Awareness Programme.
