KFC and Fitness Zone have sponsored sports attire for Brunei’s athletes competing in the second Asian Youth Games 2013 in Nanjing, China,

A handover ceremony was conducted yesterday at Fitness Zone, Kiulap, where the sponsors presented the Brunei contingent with attire sporting the colours of the Brunei flag, which will be worn during the games.

Present on behalf of Fitness Zone was Managing Director Wu Chun, and representing KFC was Senior Marketing Manager Jonathan Bong.

“In many countries, sports development can be a costly affair, and governments sometimes collaborate with the private sector to pursue those objectives,” said Bong.

“We (KFC and Fitness Zone) would like to take a small step (in pursuing this cause), which we know will encourage other companies to join in and support the cause in the future.”

“Apart from the sponsored attire, Fitness Zone is also giving the athletes membership passes to use their fitness facilities. It’s a small gesture from us to wish them luck and to give them support,” said Wu Chun.

The head of the Brunei delegation to the Asian Youth Games, Umi Kalthum Hj Abdul Karim, shared that the sponsorship is welcomed and helps the young athletes feel supported, which in turn inspires them to do their best for their beloved country.

Five athletes will be representing Brunei, aged between 14 to 17 years of age. They include national junior golfer Mohd Qazzri Fakhri Hj Aslimon, and fencers Md Hazeeq Asmui’e Md Fadzilah, Muhd Aizuddin Yaqin Hj Yahya, Mohd Haziq Asahrin and Muhd Anaqi Danish Asahrin.
